Lauterbach Custom Boats

 

Lauterbach Custom Boats was established in 1947 by Henry Lauterbach in Portsmouth, VA.  

Henry’s son, Larry Lauterbach, started working with him part time during Larry’s last two years of high school.   After two tours in Viet Nam doing construction work with the Navy Sea Bees (1966-1968), he started working full time in the shop and picking up his driving career.

 

Henry retired in 1986 from boat building but continued to build boat trailers and hardware for Larry.

 

Larry moved the business to Chester, MD in 1990.

 

Between the two, they have built over 250 boats.

Won over 300 races in his career

Inducted into American Power Boat Association Honor Squadron

Member of the Valleyfield Regatta Hall of Fame
